SEO vs. PPC 1 – Money Making Marketing Minute #9

Hey welcome to yet another episode of Money Making Marketing Minute. I am your host, Brodie Tyler.

SEO vs. PPC, or search engine optimization versus pay-per-click. Which is the better route for your business to take? Well, I may not be able to answer this question specifically for your business, but in this video and the next, I’m going to be giving you a lot of information so you can make that educated decision on your own.

I really like search engine optimization a lot more and here’s why. In another video I showed you this. If this is a web page, and this is Google’s logo up here, and you type in your search term and click “Search”, Google’s going to give you some search results back. Up here at the top are the pay-per-click ads. You also have some pay-per-click ads along the side. And in order to be placed here, you pay Google or Bing for every click that someone makes on your ad. You have the listing here, and they do a search, they click on it and Google charges you for that. Maybe a dollar, up to twenty-five dollars… whatever the case may be for the keywords that you’re targeting and your industry, you’re going to be charged for every single click. So that’s pay-per-click.

Down here, with search engine optimization you get listed in the organic search results. There are a couple of reasons why I like pay-per-click more than SEO. First of all, it’s very quick. In an hour you can have an ad campaign going and be listed on the first page of Google, Bing and Yahoo, simply by doing a pay-per-click campaign.

Number two, you can specify very specific parameters. Maybe you only want your ad to show up during your business hours of 9 to 5… or only at night… maybe it’s 24 hours. You can target specific keywords and specific time frames on your campaign. And that goes for the geographic area as well. The geo-targeting on pay-per-click campaigns is amazing. If you only want to target the residents living in the United States, you can do that. If you only want Florida residents, then you can target only Florida residents. Or maybe just those that live in the city of Miami. Perhaps you only want to target the homes within a 5 mile radius around your store. You can do that! You can do that geo-targeting with pay-per-click.

And that’s why I like pay-per-click over SEO. In the next video I’m going to give you the opposite. I’m going to show you why search engine optimization should be your preferred method of marketing on the internet. Thanks for watching this video and I’ll see you on the next one.
